Helio Home is an ultrasonic aroma diffuser that works by mixing oils with water, then using ultrasound to turn the mixture into a cool vapor that is carried into the room. This is very similar to how an ordinary humidifier works, meaning it will also gently humidify and moisturize the surrounding air. Blown by hand, one at a time: every shade is hand-blown, so the three stacked curves and the thickness of the glass vary slightly from piece to piece. Light gathers where the glass is heavier and softens where it thins, so no two Helio Homes fill a room in quite the same way. Glass diffuses the LED the way a lampshade does, rather than tinting it the way molded plastic does.
The eight-hour wake setting: press and hold the mist button for three seconds from standby. A slow breathing light confirms the timer is armed, then the diffuser sits dark and silent for eight hours before running a two-hour session of candlelight and mist. Eight hours also spans a working day, so the same hold on your way out means you come home to a room that already smells like it.
Light and mist run separately, so the diffuser also works as a night light with a dry tank, and it shuts itself off automatically if the tank empties or the unit is knocked over.
